    Td5 Battery Life

Bought my Discovery Td5 new. About 5 years old, last service dealer said battery was still good. What sort of battery life should I expect? Car does a mixture of normal suburban and highway driving.

He couldn't have used the correct LR battery tester. Ours seems to fail 99% of the batteries tested (even those without a complaint from the owner) 8O .

5 years is a very good run.

Asking about how long it will last will surely bring about its demise now though  .

When the time does come, make sure you replace it with the correct type.

It's a Lead Calcium battery, not a Lead Acid battery.
They have different charging characteristics & a lead acid battery can boil over.

Ours just failed after 5yrs, replaced it with a Century/Yausa 86ZMF Calcium/lead calcium battery.

Mine should be failing any minute now 8O 8O 8O 8O

This week, Daughter No. 1 grapped the keys decided to sit in the car for half an hour or so, with ignition on, radio blaring and heater fan flat chat. All this waiting to go to school.
Needless to say but the usual dead clicking of the starter motor. One jump start from the neighbours and were off.

Unfortunalely episodes like this puts the death knells into the battery so I will be up for a new one soon
    6 years and still counting.
    Cheers,
    Lyndon.
