new water pump - where from?

    G'day guys,
It appears I need a new water pump on my 97 v8. It's leaking from the little hole on the underside.
I checked a parts catalogue and nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price.
Any suggestions about where to source one at a reasonable price?
Or is it acceptable to just bog up the hole?

    Thanks,
    Ian

bogging the hole wont help you... it is a weep hole to let you know the inner seal in worn out and leaking (ans also thru the bearings usually).

you get to replace the whole lot with that model i believe and you need to do it sooner rather than later.

    Re water pump repair

I had the same problem with my 97 Discovery. Purchased a rebuilt one in South Melbourne. Can't remember the exact name of the place, but try and call Auto Cooling 42 Moray st South Melbourne 9699-1444. If they don't have one, they might be able to put you on to the wholesaler that I got mine from.

    Good Luck,

    Ken

Try the sponsor link http://www.british4wd.com, I've just ordered a water pump from them (although its for 300Tdi). In the past I've ordered the fan belt and some pulley bearings and they were very prompt in delivery and helpful, in addition they were at a better price than dealer or some other aftermarket spare shops.

From our Sponsors web site catalogue:

I am staggered at the price of the Vin MA V8 price vs the 300Tdi (and they, whoever they are, say that diesels are expensive to maintain) 8O

The diesels have to cop it sweet somewhere.

    Just for everyone's information:
After chasing around by phone & internet, I've had 9 different prices varying between $142 and $370.
Cheapest was Karcraft in Sydney who get some good reports from others on the forum. Including postage they still undercut the locals. Cheapest locally is $176. Dearest was Repco (and the sponsor one_iota quoted above).
I can live with those prices, so I'll get the part in the next few days and we're back on track.

    Thanks for the feedback.
