Jump starter

I have one of these from Supercheap which about five years old by now and it still does the job well, however I do ensure it gets charged regularly.
As we have several vehicles, tractors etc., twin batteries are out of the question, so this gadget comes in handy.
Whenever we go away in any of our vehicles we always take it along, and as we have a few oldies on club plates it goes on any outings with them too.
It's not the be all and end all, but it's very handy.

We have a similar one of these that has now been made redundant because amazingly the much smaller devices do the same job.
I had absolutely NO faith in the small jump start devices But the Missus wanted one and I got one for her birthday for her as she had the occasional problem with a flat battery in her D4D Hilux.To my utmost surprise the silly looking little thing had absolutely No problem starting the 4 cylinder diesel in her truck one morning [thumbsupbig]
I have since fitted a new battery in her Hilux so she hasn't had to use it for her truck any more But it has been used on several occasions jumpstarting the kids cars and the ride on mower as well.
Like any other jump start device the charge has to be maintained in it and these small devices are actually pretty bloody good and can not only jump start your engine they can be used to charge up your phone/camera and even your laptop and they are a fraction of the weight and size of the older style battery packs that you and I have.

Yes, I have seen one of those little gadgets start a TD5. Bought one for my son after that, small enough to carry in the glovebox or under the seat of his bike.

I have noticed the lithium units becoming more and more popular........in saying that I will be stuck with a flat battery.

I got one of these NOCO - 2000A Lithium Jump Starter - GB70 Noco Genius GB70. you can power all things and strong enough to start a diesel tractor. They retail for up to $500 but I found one on flee bay for $310.

Maybe over kill but also works as back up power supply for other devices. The local Battery World dealer told me all the dealers use this for emergency call outs - because they are so small and compact. You can leave them in back of car charged on a USB outlet.
