    Warn Winch - Defender TD5

    G'day,

Anyone out thier with a TD5 Defender fitted with an ARB Bar and 9000lb winch.
If anyone has this combination can you advise me on the following -

which side is the winch motor on - Drivers side or passenger.
Is the cable spooled to come out on the top of the drum or on the bottom.

I believe my winch has been incorrectly fitted and am curious to see if how some have been fitted.

    Thanks in advance.

On mine the motor is on the driver's side, cable comes off the bottom of the drum.

I've had a couple of Warn 9000's and the motor was always on the driver's side (i.e. LHS looking at the winch from the front) which means that the gearbox and clutch release lever is on the passenger's side.

Cable should spool out from the bottom of the drum and based on average cable depth on the drum - it should be coming out of the fairlead smack in the middle of the upper and lower rollers.

Definitely should come off the bottom of the drum.

just had a good look at my winch and the cable would be too high for the fair leed if it came off the top of the drum its a arb bar (go figure) 8O
