    removing defender flares

    hey

need to remove the front left wheel arch flare and didn't want to break any of the little black plastic retainers. i need to fix some indicator wiring

there seems to be two types one with a phillips head centre bit and the others that are solid

i tried turning the ones with the phillip heads with no luck

are they sacarficial, i.e. do they break/get damaged if i put a screw driver behind them and lever them out therefore i need to buy some prior to removing

    Hi Kelvin,

Is it the flare os the guard liner?

I had to remove the plastic guard liner on the disco for the snorkel install and managed to break one or two, mostly if your carefull they come apart ok.

    thanks zook

i should have put a bit more info into my orginal post

the indicator in the tjm bar has not been working since i used a sledge hammer to panel beat the bottom of the bar 'funny that'. i went to undo the screws to change the bulb and they are rusted in place. i gave them a spray and waited 1/2 hours or so, one came loose but not the other, in my frustration i have broken the indicator housing 'up for a new one now'. now that it is out i replaced the bulb and its still not working. tried to trace the wires but couldn't remove the flare without fear of the plugs breaking, i than went to remove indicator assembly however the fools that wired up the indicator for the bar have cut the wires so short and i can only now pull the indicator out just enough to change the bulb and not enough to rewire the bar indicator.

no such thing as a five minute job

The little black plastic studs have a pin in them.
punch the pin out then the whole stud pops out.

i had to remove mine to fix camila's snorkle.
And she no leaka da wata anya more.

    Hey Kelvin,

Dont the wires connect to the front indicator near the headlight?

If so I would remove the headlight surround and headlight then plenty of access without any of them little black F*#%@ng plugs to worry about
