A freelander has a wider track and longer wheelbase than a Disco and is actually slightly wider but much shorter. Now there is not much in any of those measurements - actually only a mm or two but it is bigger.

The problem with the Freelander is that it has a fat lower body and a narrow top - a bit like me really https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Stay away from the petrols, as has been said. The early diesel manuals are fairly bulletproof; once that IRD is done it's all sweet really.

The V6s and TD4s (V6 auto only) are the picks really though, provided (as with any LR) you get a good one!
