Defender airconditioner - sloshing!!

I think it's crap from inside. I'm not sure if a trap would help either. You'd have to be a little careful as it depends on where the drain in the condensate tray is in relation to the fan. Look at all the modern household splits. If you instal a trap the head unit will flood. The partial vacuum created by the fan is amazing. 80

Anyway, my AC hasn't worked for three years thanks to some doofus pulling the condenser out to clean it, decided it was beyond saving and never fitted another one.
Obviously I sacked that idiot. Could you recommend a decent fridgy in these parts....?? :roll:

Prior to that mine sort of drained OK.
BTW, these are all an Australian sourced/fitted system. They used to be AMC, not sure who it is now. The compressor is a standard SD7H15 Sanden, and the condenser and drier are universal components. I've left the evap, etc well alone. Don't want to go poking in there and creating more trouble/work, do we. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

For those that are interested, I have the wiring diagram of the AMC Defender 300 TDi air con.

Re who bought the AMC stuff, KLR Automotive went through searching that out last week and were contacted by the bloke who did buy all the spares ('cos LR can't help for parts).

You can take the outside cover off, it exposes some pipes and wires, but that's it. Nothing to do with the blockage..... The blockage is inside and very difficult to get to, the local LR stealer recommended poking up the drainage hole with a softish rubber pipe - the type you get at aquarium shops? Be warned - the casing is not all that strong and any heavy-handedness will crack the moulded plastic housing! Roll on winter....

The problem is not the drainage pipes,the water does not get to where the drainage holes are it runs into the fans and sloshes around evry time you turn a corner.I had to pull out the whole unit and make up a flat alloy plate for the water to run onto and divert it to the right spot i still get condensation around the vents when it is very humid but no water on the floor or in the fans.All the water runs out the drain hole under the pass side floor.PS it is a very poor design.

Do you have any photos of your effort? Was it something that a backyard mechanic (me) can do, or did it require a bit more expertise?
