    LT230 input gear tooth count

I have recently installed a reconditioned lt230 from Ashcroft into my 03 defender.
The one I removed was a suffix G with a 26 tooth input gear. 1.4 ratio

The one I installed was also a suffix G with a 28 tooth input gear. Ratio 1.2
I intended to fit my Roamerdrive overdrive onto the new 1.2 ratio t/case with the intention of towing our camper in 4th overdrive.

However the overdrive input gear is 26 tooth as per the previous t/ case. This wasn,t going to be an issue as Roamerdrive make an input gear for the suffix G t/case.

My problem is the suffix G 1.2 ratio T/case should have a 38 tooth input gear not 28 and Roamerdrive no longer make a 28 tooth input gear only the 38 for the 1.2 t/case.
So how did a suffix G t/case get a 28 tooth input gear.

I nave emailed Ashcroft with my query but would appreciate any comments.
    Am I missing something?
Everything I have read says a Suffix G t/case should have a 38 tooth input gear

You have just gone from a 1.4 tcase to a 1.2, why do you need the overdrive?

    I tow the camper (1.5 t) in 4th gear, even with the 1.2 t/case at 100km/h = 2,800 rpm.
with the 1.2 t/case and overdrive about 2,200.

with the VNT and various other mods 2,200 rpm is pretty ideal.

Yes I am aware of this guide.
suffix G for the 300tdi and td5 is for the 1.4 ratio t/ case. 26 tooth.
suffix G for the TDCI Defender is also the late d2 Disco t/case and is 1.2 ratio. 38 tooth.

    I now have a 1.2 ratio suffix G t/case with a 28 tooth input gear.
Factory never made them that way.....
