I might try that. Mine are not in good shape.
Could it soften the rubber and make them sit better against the glass?
Hi all,
I thought I'd share a success story and post some photos of a simple process to look after your wiper blades.
Basically, I had wiper blades that were juddering over the windscreen something severe and was going to buy some others before driving again!!
I suggest the process below if you have similar pain, or even for new blades to keep them healthy.
1. Remove your blades
2. Apply a good amount of interior/exterior protectant (I used what I had on hand which seems to work well)

3. Let sit for a few hours
4. Wipe off with a cloth (I didn't use any cleaning product, just a good wipe). You can also use the product you wipe off to rejuvenate the top sides of the blades.

5. Reinstall.
Honestly, the cleaning action is brilliant now! No juddering, and even in between wipes while washing the windscreen I notice how amazing the wipe is!!

For the future - As Tombie told us some years ago get Silblade or similar silicon wiper blades. I've had mine on for 5 years now (admittedly cars garaged) and all good. Only problem is getting 14" ones for the rear, so will now use your trick there.
Also Rainex/rust converter not only cleans the windscreen well, but also makes any water run off cleanly - would be handy if your wipers stopped working

Simply cleaning them makes a big difference, i use the squeegy at the servo and use the mesh side to give them a scrub to get the grime off.

Excellent tips guys
Will try the silicone type when next needed.
I find rainex dangerous! When I apply it, I am always hesitant to turn in the wipers lest it reduce the effectiveness of the rainex. Haha
For my daily driver (not a Land Rover) I'm getting the beam type blades delivered to my door for under $5 each.
Cautious at first and carried an original with me as a spare in case the cheapy broke but no problems.....

I have used rainX on my boat windows for years and it is bloody fantastic, I have used it on car windscreens and it is great until you use the wipers to get rid of the suicidal bugs and reapplying it is a PITA.
I usually just replace my wiper blades each winter because we get high 30C's and 40C's for long periods here over summer and it pretty much "Cooks" the blades which buggers them.
