maybe pull the locking sleeve forward and tap the opposing end with a wooden mallet (increase hammer size and type as frustration increases)

Hi All,
Does anyone have ideas of how to get the hex part out of the collet bit on an 18V impact driver (like roofers use)?
Snapped flush and there's nothing to grab.

Have you tried using a really strong magnet or maybe a dob of araldite and glue a nail to the offending bit to pull it out with?

Thanks guys,
Have drilled a hole in it and got a self tapper to kinda grip, but not grip enough to get it out.
That's how hard its stuck.

If it's that stuck and you could drill it's probably soft enough to tap. A M5 tap and a small socket head screw might do the trick.
It might loosen if you can get the hammer action to work in the opposite direction.

I'll give the tap a go............ might have to be imperial though.
cheers, DL
Job done, used an M4 tap.
As the tap reached the bottom of the hole the tapping motion freed it up.
If this happens to anyone else with an AEG driver please note that there is a barely discernable flat on the side of the bit holder that a 12 mm spanner can grip to stop the thing spinning while drilling and tapping.
Using a quality driver bit in the first place would have helped!
Thanks again, DL
