Discovery 2 V8 Air Con Clutch Pulley Failure

    Hi guys,
I am after some information on the air con clutch / pulley assembly on a D2 V8.
Air con stopped working today and appears that the clutch bearing failed?? or something similar. Caused a strip of the serpentine belt to also rip away.
As per the pics below, the rubber plastic insert was thrown out and what looks like an electric sensor.
Can this part be replaced and if so what is the part number name I am assuming clutch armature assembly.

I think the required parts may be available from Ashdown Ingrham, will ring them in the morning.

Got worse, so likely now new compressor. Removed clutch and armature to find armature had fused itself onto the pulley, also bearing missing from bearing race, likely what caused the problem also broke off a section of the nose cone. So over stupid things with these cars.

might be time to buy an old eh holden or a falcon of simular year, they were pretty basic. That's about the era when the build stared getting more complexed with more and more things to go wrong.

They are not that hard to work on just PIA stupid stuff all the time. Maybe time to get my 76 LX SS Torana back on the road.

So over stupid things with these cars.
The aircon compressors are made by only a few makers which car makers select from.
I would hazard a guess that there are many many brands that use that compressor so you will have to avoid the lot of them.
They are Denso from a quick Google so you will have to avoid most Japanese brands.

The clutch fell apart on my D2a Td5. I sourced a used replacement for cheap, fitted it, regassed and has been good since.

Replacement clutch parts are available and I tried that route first but I think I damaged something in the process so ended up replacing the whole unit.

Yeah, I ordered the clutch armature etc but then found the nose damaged as well. Getting a second hand compressor on Friday for now.
