I'm sure I recall Offtrack giving the part number of a "stock" Bosch upgraded MAP sensor a while back.
But you have to have the ECU rescaled.

    Thanks for that.

Anyone aware of where to source one from in Australia? Google and eBay spit out UK/Europe results, can't seem to find a local supplier. Tomorrow during business hours, I will try the usual Repco and Bursons, and Diesel Injection Services (Darcy Street, South Hobart) or Specialist Auto Electrics (Liverpool Street, Hobart) - both of which have Bosch branding on the external of their building.

IIRC when I searched with that part# it was a factory fit for some Mercedes models.
Might be worth trying a merc dealer, although it will be gold plated.

IMO that MAP sensor is wasted money without the fuel map addapted to it

Yes, they go hand in hand.

It has also been suggested that the OEM VAG sensor Bosch 0 281 002 401 (which is the Bosch part number) or 038 906 051 C (which is the VAG OEM part number - these units have both part numbers on it's label) is suitable for our application too. It is only a 3 bar sensor though where I believe the OEM Mercedes Bosch 0 281 002 244 is 3.5 bar. Still it's 0.5 bar higher than the OEM LR Td5 Bosch unit which is only 2.5 bar according to Tech Note No.1: MAP sensor recalibration and replacement | DiscoTD5.com and this might be enough to increase the range to a usable amount and overcome MAP overboots issues with some ECU tune adjustment - I think this would be right in my case as I'm not exceeding 300 kpa in the readings.

As a bonus, it seems to be about 1/3rd of the price of the OEM Mercedes Bosch unit part number above too which is great.
