TDV6 HP fuel pump pulley problem (not Land Rover)

Both the wife & I drive Territory diesels (she gets my old car when I replace it).

When the timing belt & HP fuel pump belt were replaced at 160,000km the HP fuel pump belt shredded & came off leaving me stranded. The dealer looked after me and it was sorted but then there was a smell of diesel and after going back several times they replaced a sensor (?) which was damaged by the belt coming off. All has been great until the other day at about 210,000km.

The wife came in the other evening and told me the car had just started to make a strange noise. I went out and it didn't sound healthy, tracked to noise to the rear of the engine and when I pushed & pulled the HP fuel pump cover the noise changed.
So, in the dark, blanket over the engine so I could lay on it to get my hands down the back to unclip the HP belt cover, took the picture below with the phone.

The side guide plate has come off the camshaft pulley and got crumpled up then the belt has drifted into the rear of the cover ! Lucky the remains didn't snap the belt. Tilt trayed to the dealer next day......

I've put it down to maybe being damaged when the belt came off at 160,000kms but wondered if it's happened to anyone else. The dealer is still investigating and wants to try to determine why it failed so they don't just replace parts and it happens again. Next comes the discussion regarding costs........

A family who live nearby still have their Territory off the road after some months.

Timing belt broke at just over 100 thou. Out of warranty time wise I think. Big bucks to fix.

Still in dispute with the maker.

If regularly serviced by Ford you'd think they'd be covered warranty or not.
Timing belt is not due until 160,000 or 10 years.

Looks like I'll have a dispute with the dealer. Should be available for collection tomorrow but seems I'll be paying in full (no charge worked out yet as they are awaiting one part).

Starting to type out details of the initial problem and the current issue ready to email to Ford.

    Collected the car today.
Labour was discounted, parts at cost (so I'm told) but the bill was just under $1,100 and they accept no liability because the vehicle covered another 40,000km after the belt came off when they previously replaced it.

Email being sent to Ford, the dealer principal and the RACV. Not sure where this will get me but not a happy camper......

Anywhere else I should contact ?

That was the plan, just looking for ideas if they don't come to the party.....
Noticed on the invoice they charged me for a 'kit timing belt' which was 1/2 of the total amount. I believe Ford only supply the HP fuel pump belt and tensioner in this kit along with the cambelt, idlers etc. so I might ask for the rest of the kit as I was charged for it.

Got a result today.....the dealer is reimbursing us for the repair costs.

I've had all my servicing over 3 Territorys done by them and they have been good to deal with (once you get them to realise that "nothing other than the logbook service" means exactly that !).
The initial HP fuel pump belt issue was a one-off problem and they have now accepted that this was most likely to have caused the pulley failure.
