14D seems a mystery on all my lists
Rover V8 engine number sequences

Hi Folks,
New to the site and to Range Rovers, please correct me if this is the wrong place for this question.
I recently aquired an (Australian-build?) RR, first reg 1983 but i suspect a 1982 BY. VIN has an F suffix, which I interpret to mean CKD.
I have scoured the internet for engine number info but cannot find reference to the 14D anywhere. I also have a PDF of a service manual that purports to cover the BYs in question and part refer to and engine number suffix of A or B.
I have attached a photo of the stamps on the block. Can anyone shed any light on this for me please?E42D2F5F-00B6-4BB7-A000-5051F3C04E94.jpg

I found this on a site - doesn't have your number but does have 13D and 15D numbers so best guess is early 80s RR carb auto engine.
Hmm infor deleted because when you hit submit it changes formatting to make it not readable. I will be back with another edit soon. So these system does not allow Word files to be uploaded.

Thanks for the feedback, seems to remain a mystery. I had located all (?) the engine numbers lists on the internet but hadn’t seen the other thread. Thanks for that.
It’s not a major issue, i was just surprised not to find it anywhere.
I retrieved the car, with permission of course, from my neighbour’s paddock. It had been there a couple of years, the owner has gone off sailing the world so the arrangements via email were rather erratic. It looks a bit used but has a complete set on newer panels in good nick as well as being filled up with spare including an L77 5 speed box. It originally had some oversize tyres and a lift kit somewhere in the spares. I toom the easier path and picked up some old normal sized wheels from the local tyre dealer. I just wanted to be able to move it around so tread didn’t matter too much.
No brakes at the moment, the booster and the MC need major repairs. I also have a slight coolant leak from the water pump so I guess that needs work as well.
I can see a lot of fun snd probably some frustration coming up in the future.
this is a great site, glad I found it. Well done guys.
cheers
Graeme
