Accessing inner wing without removing outer

I have a leak in my D2, one that hasn't been covered in any other threads. It spills in on the passenger side behind the wing panel, out of the seam, basically the inside equivalent of where the side indicator light sits. When I flush water on the windscreen I can see it go down into the inner wing as intended and but then its spilling out of the side indicator fixture, so I think there's some kind of issue in there.

I'm not competent enough to take the outer wing off, but can see that at the rear of the front wheel housing there is a non-metal panel above the wheel that is held in with plastic rivets.

Would this give me access to get up into the cavity between the panels to take a look? Do those rivets just pop out with a screwdriver then go back in without any issues?

    Many thanks, Will

[Edit: now that I've figured out what that panel is called I've searched again using that and I can see a non-AURLO post about inner wings rusting and allowing water to come through the seams... scary. I'd still try to take a look through the wheel cavity before I panic though...]

Most of the scary rust stories are from UK/Euro based vehicles, due to their lovely habit of salting roads in winter.

Those plastic rivets will (mostly) come out intact. Any that don't can be replaced for a few bucks from Supercheap, Repco, etc. They are usually a two piece item. Get the inner piece out first. Look at the first one you get out, and you'll see what a cunning design they are.
