    Chris the mechanic in Hawker said he'd seen that break the aluminium pulley mount clean off, so a hell of a load would've gone through the bonded rubber in the balancer too
    I got a Tdi Freebie that had a supposed seized engine a few years ago as it wouldn`t turn over

    Turned out to be a seized AC compressor after i got it in the shed

    That was a cheap fix

    Its a good bush fix, but he could have driven the 1000k with only the broken hub in place. Mine went at 190k ( & previously had the thermatic fan replaced, so maybe a link?) early on a high plains trip. Luckily my passenger was a top mechanic who assured me that we could do the trip without it but to replace it ASAP back in Melb. Its now got a Ross balancer. Mine took a bit off the fan which pin holed the radiator, but some bars leaks fixed that till I got home too..
