    Z89A oil fiter suit 300tdi?

A while back I was sent a few (phoenix brand) filters that are copies of the Z89A having requested filters for a 300tdi in a disco 1...from an online seller.
I queried at the time that they are not the same depth ( shorter) as what I usually used ( Cooper) and was assured they are fine. But I wasnt confident to use them and got a credit on them. They sat in the shed since then. Today I did an oil change and realised after draining that I didnt have any Coopers filters left so I have put on one of the Z89A's.

Does anyone know if there is a reason these filters shouldnt be used on the 300tdi?

    thanks

sorry I should have searched first - I see that it is a common filter for the 300tdi.
Whether the Phoenix copy is any good is another question - might not leave it on long.

Z89A IS the correct filter for a TDI, Z9 is the same fitting but longer and may foul the diff.

Z9 does foul the diff, and ryco made a notation to that effect as several engines were lost...

Unless judicious use is made of a 5" angle grinder on the front diff.... Z89A oil fiter suit 300tdi?
And even then it's touch and go but at least the potential kiss at maximum bump setup compression won't leave you stranded.

The genuine ERR3340 filter used to be so bloody cheap it was almost a Z9/FL1A price anyway, and what most people don't realise is that the old Z9 isn't that efficient at filtering.
    The stock filter is fine.

The Ryco Z89A is several times the price of a Z9. I used to buy them for my Hillman Hunter but a Z9 could be used as the filter is mounted upside down beside the block.

the Baldwin b2 is a better filter than the z9, better flows and better filtration as is the Baldwin b229 vs the z79a

they are both hydraulic filters in the real world.

I always use Baldwin in preference to Ryco as I found them to be better and usually a tad cheaper.

I don't have the Hunter any more. We owned it from 1971 to 2008. It's now on the road in Canberra.
