Rover V8 - tuning vs engine characteristics etc

I've installed a Holley sniper and the engine is running well (it's amazing how much difference an IAC valve reduces the frustrations!).

Fuel consumption is running in the high 20s, low 30s. Typical drive is a 20min commute - for a grand total of 5kms!

I'm about to play with the tuning of it, and would like to get some feedback/understanding of the engine and what it should 'like'.

So... Advance is set @ 9BTDC at idle - increasing to 32 @ 3000rpm. No pinging.

    Idle - 650

Target AFR is 14.3@ idle, 13@WOT, 16@cruise. (I've read that 13.8@idle is the max a Rover V8 should be, but... How do I tell if pushing it higher is still OK or what the engine likes?)

There's a heap of what I can tune in the sniper... So...
First things first - what would others recommend I start looking at and how can I check the changes are good/bad otherwise?

Don't really want to head to a dyno just yet.

    Thanks

Yeah, you can feed these a fair bit of advance - I’ve had mine at 14btdc but settled on 12 after a few issues in hot weather. Apart from that, can’t be much help sorry.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
