    2001 TD5 defender running problems

Have just replaced clutch and flywheel (dumped dual mass and replaced with solid) and purchased Hawkeye diagnostic tool and iCarsoft LR V1.0 OBD2 Car Diagnostic Code Scanner. Have replaced MAF sensor and Crank sensor, blanked off ERG system- Hawkeye and Icarsoft now both showing high speed crank sync lost

    Problem
Engine starts ok but when I accelerate heaps of black smoke engine wants to shut down and starts to tick over like timing is out, leave for a few minutes and engine returns to normal idle by itself?
    any ideas
    thank you
    Geoff

Wastegate is getting stuck open is my guess, so it can't get boost at low revs.

When engine is running rough, open bonnet, move wastegate with mulitgrips or something like that and see what happens.

Alternatively, start car and move it open, if it's the same sound/feeling, close it and lubricate.

    problem solved

When changing clutch and flywheel did not disconnect crank sensor and wires pulled from cap. New cap new sensor still trouble, checked continuity of wires all ok . Final solution- encased wires near sensor in Alfoil and retaped with electrical tape now works perfectly. The shielded wiring must have broken the shield and is so sensitive it gave me the problem
