Series HRTC Conversion?

TriRocker - Would I get better torque at lower RPM if I had reduced my diff ratio as well as implementing the HRTC?

It should be a pretty easy DIY job.

Drain the T/C oil while you remove the floor. (30min)

Remove the Tail shafts, T/C sump and hand brake. (40min)

Remove the intermediate T/C shaft & gears. (20min)

Remove the T/C. (30min)

Refit in reverse order after lunch.

And, who performs these HRTC conversions now (in VIC)?

Not any that I have seen - They have to weld up the hole where the intermediate shaft currently sits and bor a new one. So you can buy a case that has already been welded and bored and all the gears, but they want your old case back when you are finished.

yep - I meant diy fitting of the supplied kit.

Tip - get the kit from interstate, they won't require a changeover case (too much trouble with shipping). Saves been out of action for a bit longer. I found getting mine from QLD was $50 cheaper than from a vic supplier even after paying freight.

Putting the case together is stupid easy - as long as you ignore the workshop manuals method of setting the op shaft preload!
