Dunno if this helps in any way.
I was in the process of changing all my globes(well, as many as I could!) to LEDs, and came across the stumbling block that the flasher unit wouldn't run LED bulbs .. so had to find alternatives.
Found this WIPAC branded flasher unit on ebay but for defender .. cost about $20.
Has an adjustable trimpot/knob thingo on it where you tweak it to the point where the trailer indicator on the dash doesnt'[ come on .. then when you connect the trailer it does come on(when the indicators are on that is!)
Same electrical operation, just a differently sized and shaped body .. so it won't clip into the dedicated slot for the flasher unit.
I made up fly leads and just tie strapped the flasher to whatever was available.
My thoughts were that:
1/. LEDs very rarely burn out or blow out .. they do, but not as regularly as incandescent bulbs do.
2/. they use less power
3/. coz of #2, then less likely to blow out electrical components like flasher relays!
end result.. all major globes and bulbs are now LEDs and have been for about a year .. only one silly parker currently flickering, otherwise all good.
Not 100% sure on the price now, but back in early '17 I got mine for $21 free postage(from the UK tho .. so took a while to get here).
OH! and the other problem I have is .. I totally forgot where I stored my old flasher unit! (oops!)
I know I got it, just no idea where. Works fine, only changed it coz I wanted all LEDs.
If I can find it, you could borrow it for a while till you either get one, or if I changed your mind and you decide to go all LED too.
.. just a heads up.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
