Technical point.. the engine itself probably won't run very much hotter at all in Aus because the thermostat should control this fairly tightly and give a constant temp all the time to minimise engine wear.Originally posted by Noddy
Hi
To what extent does ambient temperatures impact on the operating temps of the key components in our landys?
For example: obviously a hotter day the engine will be running warmer, but how much warmer? And what is the extent of higher ambient temps on the gearboxes, diffs etc over 'normal' ambient temps?
Just interested to know how much of an effect our hotter weather has on the Landys performance over European conditions.
Thanks
I don't think the performance of the naturally aspirated engines would be that much different.
However the force fed diesels would have a substantial difference. This is due to the lower air density, and the higher intake temperatures due to the intercoolers not working as effectively.
I know I notice the fender goes a bit better in the cold. The MINI is another thing again. Even the superchager whine is more pronounced on a cold morning because it's compressing more air. hang on![]()
