Range Rover classic indicators just stopped working!

The right turn failed a few days ago due to a break in the terminal. Soldered that up yesterday and all was well. Ordered a replacement switch, just to be sure.

Today, neither of the indicators work! The flasher unit is fine (swapped it with the hazard and it works a treat). High beam switch works fine.

Any ideas what it could be? I just need to get them working until the new switch arrives.

Any idea how to test the current indicator switch with a multimeter?

I also noticed one of the wires insulation had melted in one particular location) and possibly damaged the small purple wire (if you look closely at the picture you can see the green/brown wire with the insulation damage). I can't test the small purple wire (I don't know where it terminates on the switch).

IIRC the Green with white trace and the green with red trace are the indicators. Can’t recall off the top of my head what the supply is though - solid green?

Well, I don't know how but they work now. Reassembled everything and nothing worked, then fiddled around on something completely unrelated. Came back to the indicators and they're working better than ever.

    Go figure.

    Go figure.

The Prince of Darkness is lurking. You need to perform an exorcism.

    Have a look here :

    Vehicle Wiring Colour Code

Solid blue and solid purple are probably the switched pos feeds.

Solid brown is always live, even if hell freezes over. Maybe not live if big smoke is emitted. No solid brown there.

    cheers, DL
