I'm on LPG, getting a good run from NGK BP6ES.
I have more trouble with leads.
Currently running stock Bosch leads coz I don't know any better
Ralph
NGK BP6ES is the standard plug for them....
equivalent to champion N9YC.......
whats the problem you have with the leads...?
About every 4-5 months, (4-8000km) a cylinder stops working.![]()
So far has always been the lead.![]()
Different hole each time, no pattern I can tell.
Started sputtering and f*rting again last week, third time in the 18 months I've owned her.
In her defence tho, I have only changed the dodgy lead. So today I put 8 new ones and now she's sweet again![]()
Is any particular brand lead better? I was tempted to buy a set of fancy twisted core jobbies but standard was way cheaper....
Regards
Ralph
if you dont listen to the radio.....go the copper core leads......![]()

try and buy leads that are thick...they are better insulated.....
and when pulling the leads off the plugs...pull them from the boots....
not the actual lead as you stretch them and break the core internally.....
this break is not visible...the lead can look new and be cactus.....
as the spark now has to jump the break as well as the plug gap...it gets a bit weaker.....
and as it does so it arcs and burns the core of the lead internally until the
gap is too great for the spark to jump across.....
but i think by replacing the lot of them you have fixed the problem.....
they may have just been a really old set of leads.....
or just crappy to begin with......
and if you want to test your leads....just pull them off and check them with
your multimeters.....
you are looking for around 8,000 to 10,000 ohms per foot....
ie...if the lead is 2 foot long it should have around 16,000 20,000ohms....
any more than that they will usually give problems.......

this is the best way to save money too, as you only replace leads that have failed,,
'though it will look like a gay mardi gra under the bonnet with all the different brand leads---
and i wouldnt use a champion plug as a sinker. NGK rules.

I use the http://www.magnecor.com/ leads, brought a good set a few years ago, had always had problems with the bosch and LRO ones, no problems since fitting the magnecor ones though. Might be luck though![]()

I used them extensively in my vehicles...
Including the 3.9 supercharged V8 1995 Disco
The 5.0L stroker V8 Disco
My XR6
My V8 Calias
My ESP 351
They are definately worth the extra few $$$
And combine them with a set of 8.8mm spiral core leads and you'll never go wrong.
Cheers
