Question Fuel Flow with Inner Guard & Main Fuel Tanks on a Defender 110?

    Guys,

My Puma came with an Inner Guard Aux Fuel Tank and upon checking out how it was all installed, I've noticed that the equalising hose at the bottom of the Aux and where it is plumbed into the Main Tank is a little exposed. I'm thinking of possibly re-routing the "Fuel equalising hose" up and over a bracket and then back down again in order to try and limit its exposure to being hit.

    My Questions (see attached pics):

    • When both tanks are empty - Will I be able to fill both Tanks to the TOP?
    • When driving, will I be able to drain both tanks down and still be able to get the most out of them (ie: No Air Pockets)?

My main concern is creating Air Pockets where it will prevent me from getting the most out of both thanks (Mainly the Inner Guard Tank). I'm thinking I should be right except for possibly when 4WDriving in Steep inclines/declines that maybe I might lose the suction process that is created from the main tank to the other ??

    Comments??

Better to just make up a plate to cover your balance pipe as you will never get to use all the fuel in your aux tank with your idea
I have LRA 150 ltr tank in my D2 that does the same balance pipe thing but has a plate that bolts on and protects the balance pipe from strikes

I made myself a small guard using some mending plates and a bit of No More Nails from Bunnings.
