    2001 TD5 Defender 110 – Lash Adjuster Installation Query

G’Day There Pete, Firstly a BIG THANK YOU for including your detailed guidance and photo's as I've been using this and various manuals to rebuild my TD5. Our 2001 Defender 110 TD5 recently underwent amuch needed and well-earned overhaul. It all started with a clutch that hadreached end-of-life but as we’d been noticing coolant and oil loss, I decidedto pull the motor and prep it for another tour or three.
Turned out that the head had a pin-hole in number cylinderand the dreaded TD5 plastic dowels had failed along with head gasket.
To cut a very long story short I have had the block to themachine shop, sourced a new head and now in the midst of putting her all backto together.
As per the heading my question relates to properinstallation of the lash-adjusters. I have followed the manual religiouslyapart from “keeping the lash-adjusters upright at all times and in theiroriginal order whilst removed from engine.” Presumably the lash adjusters needto be kept upright to preserve their individual internal oil levels? however due to all thegunk floating about in the oil I decided to give them a proper rinse out beforeputting them back into service.
The LR manual (I have) doesn’t explain whether or not thelash-adjusters need to be primed full of oil, all air expelled or left empty etcso I have no idea how their installation is correctly performed. I’ve readthreads where lash-adjusters have popped out or can potentially bend valve stemsduring initial start-up so I'm very keen to resolve this one beforehand – anyhelp or guidance here is very much appreciated.
Cheers and Many Thanks in Advance - Paul

According to the workshop manual head overhaul section they are simply to fit, that's all about them:

    ....
    14. Lubricate lash adjusters and bores with engine
    oil.
    15. Fit lash adjusters ensuring they are in their
    original fitted order.
    16. Lubricate finger followers with engine oil.
    17. Fit finger followers ensuring they are in their
    original fitted order.
    18. Lubricate cams and bearing journals on
camshaft, cylinder head and camshaft carrier
    with engine oil.
    19. Position camshaft in cylinder head with the
timing pin hole in the vertical position.
    ....
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
