    Front Axle part numbers

OK so i'm trying to figure out my Rangie front end...

The left (passenger) side is all done, complete, wheel on - happy days. I have a 10 spline ARB air locker, a 10 to 23 spline axle and a 606665 CV joint in the left side...

    BUT

For the right (drivers) side I have a 10 to 32 spline axle and 32 to 10 spline CV.

I would like to use a 606665 CV in the right as well, so now I am trying to figure out right combination of parts.

First of all - If anyone has a drivers side axle, swivel, CV, and hub assembly from an early (pre 87 I think???) Rangie that they would like to move on, let me know! because that should solve my problems.

So the 606665 CV is a given, i will also need a 10 to 23 spline axle and the correct stub axle to suit the CV.

    So my questions are:

    1) My parts book shows 606662 should be the correct axle for a 606665 CV, however these seem harder to come by and more expensive than the AEU2520, which is apparently also a 10 to 23 spline axle. So does anyone know if the AEU2520 is interchangeable with the 606662?

    2) Stub Axle - the later model stubs have a different bush, looks like two separate pieces, compared to the flanged bush used with the 606665. I'm pretty sure that the bush part number I need is 571821 which I can get, but I don't think that the stub itself is the same??? I have read a bit about machining the stubs to fit different bushes, does anyone know if I could machine the later stub to fit the earlier bush?? I believe the stub axle part number I need is FRC8026, but I cant seem to find them for sale anymore, and the pictures I have for FRC8026 show the stub with the slot in the thread, not the flat section, the one that went on the left had the flat section...

    So many variables! Help!

    Axle

OK I think I have answered my own question RE axle part numbers - the AEU2520 has a grove for a circlip on the CV end and the 606662 has a machined surface for a bush. Looks to me like these differences are to do with how the axle is retained to the swivel (to stop it sliding further into the diff).
