The same BW35 in the Rover 3500 that I had for 25 years used to do the same if left standing. The auto trans shop said it is because the torque converter drains back and the ATF level in the sump rises above where the selector shaft enters the gearbox. There is a lip seal there, but replacing did not fix it.

Just my input on the Jag gearbox. I've got a 75 XJ6 series 2 but mine has a BW65 and it also used to leak fluid when it sat for any time. I did have a little leak from the selector shaft but my main leak was coming from my speedo cable. The fluid was leaking through the right angle drive and going up the cable which has a cracked outer liner allowing the fluid to leak out. I pulled out the speedo drive, gave it a clean, replaced the o ring and now it's better.
