I am obviously not at my peak today lol.
I have previously searched for, and found, someones handy guide to removing the timing cover so as to replace the chain guides.
From memory it included their home made rig for holding the crank pulley still whilst cracking the nut.
Unfortunately this was some time ago and I can't seem to find it again. I suspect I put it in the same place as my RAVE!
Anyhoo, anyone that can point me in the right direction will be appreciated and feel better knowing that you've given me something to do this weekend!

A freind and i removed a timing cover using two very long bits of pipe with the correct sized ends to fit bolts etc.
We also removed the timing cover without removing the head, by dropping the front of the sump a little, which we were told wasnt possible.
If you need a set of head gaskets and bolts let me know as i have a set that is excess.

Hate to drag an old thread up but I'm half way through doing that. Just having issues with tightening the stud into the top of the timing chain cover, it seems to just keep screwing down into its threaded hole. What did you do while you were reassembling it? Kinda tempted to stud lock a nut on to the top and make it a bolt.
I know this is old, was researching after RAVE said head needed to come off to do timing guides/tensioner. I am relieved to see that we do not have to remove the head. I am seeking information on if need to lock cam and crank with timing pins at TDC before remove of chain, and sprockets as well?
