Replaced the rocker cover seal again (and also learned that there are two different types) and now it is fairly evident that the oil comes from between the head and the cam carrier. Car is going into the workshop for something else and I'll have a chat with them to see what it takes to fix it. Might be a good opportunity to think about replacing the cam plugs and anything else that would be smart to replace on a 250k engine.

It's quite a bit of bother to fix it, a fair bit of cleaning and fiddly application of the new sealant, which is special stuff as well.

If it's not leaking bad, I'd leave it, I'd even consider running some rtv among the seam!

That's how much I like the job.
