    Trailer Plans

    Hi Guys
Anybody know of any trailer building plans available on the internet for free????
Im thinking of building a strong single axle off-road trailer that will be used for general use/firewood carting/lawnmowing and later some sort of camper conversion for it.
I would use a Treg style hitch and brakes, probably electric.
My mate has one he borrows his old man made and perfect,it even tips if need be.
I figure if Im using a set of plans registration will be easier.
Anybody got a set of plans for sale/copy etc????

    Hi Edd
Somebody on Ebay has plans for a basic box trailer and also a car trailer, but not what Im after.
There are a few trailers that somebody was building locally that are pretty good,if worse comes to worse I can copy one.

Like you I wanted to build an off road trailer and build it up into a camper over time. I have an old 7*5 box trailer thats to low for the Defender realy but it does have caravan suspension on it. I also now have the buggerewd cub camper (No canvas, No draw bar and some of the wood needs replacing). It does have shocks and the folding mechanism. I was thinking of gutting it to make it an attachement to my box trailer.

It's funny this topic has come up.
I've been searching for plans also.
    Haven't found any yet.

Being simple bits of equipment, I would have thought plans would be plentiful, but I am sadly mistaken.

I'll keep looking, but there is also an alternative - copy an existing one.

    Andy,
As long as it is well made rego will not be any drama. A friend has made 2. I bought one of him and it was a gem, onsold it when I needed the tandem. You met him in Esperance, Tom. He has a pearler now custom made for heavy offroad use and right dimensions for a camper top. If I can get hold of some pics I will email them to you. Esperance video is in the mail. Sorry for the delay.

    Andy,
There is a guy on the 4WD monthly forum who has been in the process of building an offroad trailer for the past 18 months. It is real fancy and a copy of the Ultimate camper but he did build his own chasis and everything. It is a long thread but well worth the read.
I have PM's him to see if he can send me any of his plans (he drew it all up in CAD) but he has not been around for the past 2 weeks so have not had a reply yet.

    See here : http://www.4wdmonthly.com.au/forum/i...;threadid=9107

But if you do find any plans can you let us know.

I am considering cutting my old 2 door chassis in half and using the rear for a trailer chassis. That way I keep the same track and stud pattern as the tow vehicle. Plus the added bonus of disc brakes. I am not sure whether to cut the body as well so the trailer matches the car, or just build a simple box for the top.

I hope to run landy rims so they will fit as spares if things go horibly wrong when out. My current box trailer is classed as home made as it predated chassis numbers for trailers and had been used only on a farm for the 10 years befor I got it. Its biggest fault is the weight 360kg without a spare or any attachements.
