Oil leak - help me identify source

G'day All,

A method I use to determine which G/Box is leaking oil is to add "Engineers marking out blue" to the oil. You don't need much to color the oil blue. The M/Blue has a solvent in it and will combine with the oil. (Maybe a local machine shop will help you out with some.)

Note: Food coloring won't work because it is water based.

Thanks Chris, interesting idea, hadn't thought of that! Run out of time now unfortunately, will be going in to be fixed tomorrow.

So, it was transmission fluid. Dealer wasn't at all surprised, say they've seen a few FL2/Evoque/Discovery Sport with the same leak. The splined sleeve between the transmission and PTU if not aligned perfectly will wear away the seals apparently! So, being fixed under warranty and hope to get the car back tomorrow.
