Safari would have to be the go.

I have a Safari and no complaints (annual pilbara/kimberley trip in a sometimes dusty convoy) but I wonder if the snorkels with a prefilter might not be a better option for dust. Safaris do look the best if that is an issue.

Regardless of the make the installation is critical when it comes to ensuring that water is kept out...wasn't it sclarke (Steve) who had a bodgy installation job resulting in a lung full?

I have safari but thats because it was there when I bought my Fender.
Water proof is the best type to get
There has been some good points raised for fitting a pre filter. I have some stockings over the intake of mine. Read somewhere that it helps with some of the dust and stops the bigger rocks. Just wash it every now and then.

If looks aren't important go down to the exhaust shop get mandrel bent pipes made up, for the tough industrial look the defender has filter on top and water tight seals into airbox.

Safari are good. I broke the mesh grille on my 10 year old Disco snorkel, and they sent me out the spare part by return mail. Fitted perfectly 1st time. That's what I call good service.

Safari went on on my Defender, did the installation myself, took a couple of hours to fit it in, nice and slowly...sip sip, puff puff, with practically no effort at all.
I went the extra step and "ever so lightly" siliconed all the rubber to plastic connections with a safe silicone then put the bands on.

I felt reluctant to let some "young bloke" at the dealership do it, so I had a bash, and 3 years later and many a Dip in the water later, no problems....

Actually, one thing I did to the Safari, is about 3 months after the instal after all the external screws started to show rust, I replaced them with Stainless, oversprayed with black oxide.........
    ...cheers....

    Morning Gents

Its a tropical 1 degree her this morning. Looks like Safari is the go with lanolin treated stainless fastners, sikaflexed joints and a self install.

    Thanks for your advise.
