    Good evening all,
Thank you once again to everyone who helped with this issue. My dad and I finished putting the motor together the other day. In went a whole set of new pistons (couldn't buy a single piston in Australia), gave the cylinders a hone, new bearings & lifters. We took a gamble and kept the old camshaft. It looked good & only had 60,000km on it. The engine runs nice & best of all there is no rattle!
Unfortunately one pushrod wasn't spinning during running in. The lifter spins easily in the bore when we spin the pushrod, but it won't spin when running. Dad reckons it may not be leaking down. The old lifters used to spin, so I don't think it is a bad cam lobe. Anyway, I'll investigate this tomorrow, & worst case we put a new lifter in.
    Thanks again everyone 🙂
    Edward
