Thread: Traction control,ABS etc lights.... possible solution

Hi Guys,

I know many of those with Disco II's have had the dreaded ABS, Traction Control and Downhill Decent warning light combo...

You don't have to read far to hear "it's an sensor".. "it's your modulator" etc etc etc all with scary prices quoted..

Well mine has been doing some weird stuff this last week or so... warning lights pop on while travelling down the freeway... no where near a brake pedal, Lights on...lights off.... very weird. I was getting concerned I might have a modulator issue...

Then this afternoon while fitting my new Shockers - I noticed a missing nut

The modulator has 3 rubber moutings 2 on the back and one on the front.... mine had lost the nut from the front mount - so the whole modulator could bounce around a bit.

I replaced the nut... and touch wood... no sign of light issues since...

So this may be something worth checking if you have these warning lights appearing...... and it's a cheap fix too

I get the SRS light often,havent shifted the steering position though.Im pretty sure mine is triggered by low voltage,a long run always fixes it.Funnily enough the first time it happened was after hitting a speed hump too quick,it was hidden on the exit of a roundabout,and those with ACE will know you can punt a Disco2 fairly quickly around a roundabout
I have read before that a common failure is in the SRS steering connection,and Im sorry to say it was expensive.
