Thread: cargo barrier install into D2 retain security cover

Yep....hard to find and no-one has it in stock to have a look at it

All it consists of is two plates which bolt to the cargo barrier. Think of it like a roller blind at home with the flimsy plates screwed to your window frame holding the blind. You have no choice but to run this tacky and poorly engineered system as the cargo barrier's position is about 30mm - 40mm from the back of the rear seat. It will not allow you to run the cargo/security blind in it's original position with a cargo barrier installed.

I finally found a Discovery with one installed out in the middle of Victoria somewhere...the owners thought I was knocking it off as I was being very careful not to set the alarm off

How does it vary from a D1 roller blind? I have a Milford cargo barrier & left the "blind" in place & it works well. It has side supports, not fixed to the barrier.

Blind sits almost flush with the back seat (where cargo barrier goes) therefore must be removed to allow installation

What I did was bring it to the rear to miss the barrier & used some expanding anchor fixings in the plastic to hold the blind brackets.

I bought a secondhand D1 cargo barrier for my D2.The only way to get it home was "where it fits and lives".
Ok its not fitted correctly,but will fit.Due to the huge job of having to rip all the plastics out to fit it correctly I have decided to wait till I build a storage/drawer system before its bolted in.
OK it isnt offerig full protection at the moment,but I ensure all the heaviest items are stored against it and secured low.Its providing plenty more protection than nothing at all.

i'm thinking of getting fibreglass items made up identical to original apart from cover mounts at rear. Unfortunately swapping them doesn't work as they are not square but a triagular shape

Andrew, if you mean for the top mountings, for the D1 it's a doddle & just needs small holes cut in the right places & no need to rip the vehicle apart.

I had an installer do mine & it came up safe, neat & tidy.


But I can't comment on the D2 fitting, as I don't know what's involved that's different.

I have a Milford barrier installed in my D2, which came with 2 brackets attached for the security screen to be refitted.
With a young child strapped onto the back seat, it would have to be the best accessory on the car.
