Today I actually replaced the gear oil again with the right stuff. The dealer had advised just to use 75/80 MTF. However after looking on the net the correct oil specified by landrover is Texaco MTF 94. This oil is made just for 380 boxes. Caltex in aust make an oil called Landrover MTF 94 just for the 380. This new oil seems to have solved the problem!!
Caltex MTF 94 is UK made Texaco MTF 94. Another gear oil that some has found results in a better change again and lasts longer than MTF 94 is Castrol Syntrans (not to be confused with Castrol Syntrax) Redline MTL is also a very good manual gearbox oil.

I'm still using "Syntrax" with great results. I see no valid reason to change at this time.
