    Ceramic coaters

    GC to Brisbane.

    Recommendations please?
I need an exhaust manifold done.

There are coatings and there are coatings.

isuzurover had the problem of the coating coming away internally and ceramic blasting the turbo.

    Try here:

Competition Coatings – high performance ceramic coatings

    located in Archerfield Brisbane

I've had exhaust manifold coated on my Peugeot 504 and when I get a chance, I'll getting my turbo housing and exhaust manifold pipes from my 300TDi coated as well.

They do good work. Very happy with the result. Big reduction in noise and heat.

Not sure who APT Fabrications used to use for their Td5 exhaust manifolds but it's legit and has held up well over the years plus made a significant EGT difference noticeable on the gauge.

There used to be a mob, Jet-Hot in Victoria that were week regarded but their website jet-hot.com.au doesn't seem to work any more?

Jet Hot, HPC (and a mob in Sydney used Swain Tech's system from the US) were the big ones in the race industry back in the day. (90's)

And a few engine builders like Steve Knott imported their own stuff from the US and applied it themselves.

I've found a machine on the GC do it too, but will probably use Competition Coatings

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on them. The HPC website makes their offers look pretty good. We don't have any locals in Tasmania for it so it's all two-way post for me.

Did you ever go ahead with this? If so, who did you use and are you happy with the job and quality?

I'm currently looking at importing one of those CJM (Alisport) Td5 exhaust manifolds. Received a few quotes:
Hi Octane Performance Coating < Hi Octane Performance Coatings > - $220.00 and two weeks turn around.
HPC (High Performance Coatings) HP2 Satin Black < Coatings - HPC HPC > - $253.00 and one week.
CIC (Competition and Industrial Coatings) Ceramics double coat high temperature < Exhaust Manifold Coatings – CIC High Performance Ceramics > - $330.00.

I have no reason to think any is any better than any other...

I'd suggest going with one that the hot rod boys use, if there's one near you. i had my TD5 ex man done, and it looked pretty enough, but the "coating" flaked off. I guess it was just paint. $105 about 6 years ago. Wasn't worth following up, but I guess you get what you pay for. If you were in Vic, there's a mob in Leongatha that the street rod boys all use. I should have gone there.

There is none on this island.
The three quoted above seem to all be involved in the performance car scene.
I had my replacement standard manifold done a few years ago, similar pricing to the current quotes, and it's held up extremely well with great EGT benefits. I wouldn't consider not doing the ceramic coating now.
Hopefully being a brand new manifold makes the prep work even easier for an even better result.
