Exclamation Warning Discovery II Aircon drain

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before.
I was recently told that the air-con water drain on a disco II drains directly down onto the front drive shaft.
This would limit the life of the shaft by slowly washing away the lubricant from the double universal joint.
I looked at my fathers car an it has water stains all over the drive shaft.
I extended the drain hose to drain the water out to the other side of the chassis and it looks good.
It would also be good the change all three universal joint to the grease-able type, as are standard Land rover ones.

It can also drip right onto the inhibitor switch & cause all sorts of dramas with M&S lights.

Don't really see any difference the application of word prop or drive.
However if you look up the definition of prop it seem to mean reinforce like a pillar or an abbreviation of propeller.

My stage 1 3.9 diesel had 2 of them it sounds like a light aircraft so you might be right after all.

The idea was to extend the drain pipe so as to allow the water to drain away easily, but away from where it will cause a problem.
    so that is the fix.
The other idea I had was to leave the air con off or better still if you live is south east Queensland. How the water drain into a bucket as you get in trouble for using a hose with water here.

What about water splashing up there from the wet roads during our southern winter months? Or when fording a river creak? Drive shafts always get wet oneway or another

Change the universal joint over to greasable type.
    Live in Southeast Queensland?
Or don't worry about it and get a new one when it flogs out completely.
