There are no bolts into the water Jacket.
In my experience the major leakage on 3.9s ( from a sample of 1 plus other threads) is that the heads leak at the extreme back and front corners as the block must relax over time. When this is behind the power steering pump you do not notice it and at the back it is also easy to miss.
Sometimes the inlet manifold leaks at the far back where the blank is on the LH head, but usually a tighten up of the bolt will stop it.
I followed up lrpartsrover with a 2nd email late last week .... I was unfortunately quite blunt with my impression of their service in the email :bat: [bigsad] They replied to the 2nd email within a few hours apologizing for missing my first email. A full new gasket set arrived by by courier to my door double wrapped and boxed to avoid damage today ( 1 business day later ). I wasn't expecting another full gasket kit. They obviously get the big thumbs up from me. :banana::banana::banana::banana: . Damage by Australia post is not their fault, I certainly didn't expect a full new gasket kit to be sent!Quote:

I finally got the motor back in .... Gee's everything takes me forever! I noticed when I had the rocker cover off the dipstick tube wasn't even close to inserted to the stop in the block. so I pushed it back home as much as I could.

It fired right up ... and took about 10seconds to find all cylinders... and then the universe disappared in a cloud of smoke ..... I'd forgotton I pumped oil down into the inlet and plug holes [bigwhistle] [bighmmm] I think I might have sent a smoke cloud over the entire suburb [bigrolf]
I set the timing to 10degrees and took it for a drive up and down the street. It pulls like a freight train. I reckon it has a torque/towing cam fitted. It hauls ass on petrol until about 4200rpm .... where it just dies. I'll try it on gas to see if its the same tomorrow. Its not leaning out and dying though .... so I reckon its cammed for low down torque and pulling power.
It will be interesting to see if I have a working idle stepper motor .... I've been drowning them in petrol due to the failed pressure regulator without realising.
