Help 2004 Discovery 2 4.0 V8 - 140k km, Auto P0340
Just got my hands on a V8 landrover and hooked up my OBD2 scanner that has shown a p0340 fault. Cleared codes, Still present.
1. Checked for shorts on leads running on top of the engine near the oil filler cap - Nil issues.
2. Pulled the lead off the CRANK sensor - vehicle would not start - plugged it back in - starts and runs.
3. Engine runs smooth and starts.
Before I pull the thing apart to replace the cam sensor is there anything else I can check?
Also, I have done some reading on this forum and people have stated that the CRANK sensor can throw this code. I did unplug it to see if it made any difference and when unplugged the vehicle would not start, does this eliminate the CRANK sensor?
Any advise is appreciated.
