    Guys fixing domestic refrigerators used to do this years ago, before the smaller light DD vac pumps were common.Some are now cordless.
    Its a very rough way of vacuuming out a system, no matter what size it is.

    Interesting. The last ARC audit I endured the inspector claimed it was as I described. We were actually having the discussion about the proprietary 'propane blend' refrigerants being free to purchase from a number of sources (including places not traditional refrigeration / gas wholesalers), as well as my exposure to those unlicensed people wanting to purchase it for a 'home job' (which I could not help them with). The inspector definitely had a 'systems' view of who can and cannot interact with it.
    Moving on, correct on the latter. Get a bank loan first though... it isn't cheap
