    TD5 ECU cap values

Bloody engine just cut out at 100km/h and the Nanocom has come up with the 'Topside switch failed, pre-injection' which doing a very quick search points to a failing capacitor in the ECU.
Strangely it started straight away and drove the last couple of km home ok.

Does anyone have any idea what their value is before I pull it apart to check?

    Cheers

Hmm, both caps are reading within spec.

One is rated at 3300mF, the other 1000mF, both +30%, -10%
I'm getting 4120 on the first, 1100 on the second.

No oil in the harness (relatively new, maybe 18-24 months old and the rest of it flushed numerous times)

Ok, I'm going to replace the things.
I've had enough caps break down under heat and vibration before on various things over the years.

Anyone have a lead on a replacement for the old Rifa's?

I found changing to a D4 3.0 fixed all of my D2 TD5 issues. Just saying!

No moisture Rick ?, I've only seen this fault after a D2 was left for an hour with water over the bonnet.
Something also ringing bells about this happening due to a failed TCU but was years ago.

Once the k's get up there , even if the engine hasn't failed , the D2 issues will seem very pale in comparison, sorry to say.

    Not that I noticed mate.

I did some river crossings a few months back but everything looked ok when I opened up the plugs and ECU.
I do live in the 2nd highest rainfall area of the state though.
I think we're past 1200mm for the year so far?
