In early January of 2014 I set off on a 4WD trip with some mates on a fresh set of four BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO tyres in 285/75R16 size on my MY03 D2a Td5. I didn’t record the mileage at fitment but my Service Record shows 200k km at May 2013 service and 210k km at my May 2014 service - so somewhere in between.
Had the wheel alignment set to 0-2mm toe out and recall the argument with the wheel aligner telling me that it’ll scrub the tyres out.
40psi road pressure.
Fast forward a few years with little real off road work in recent years due to two house renovations and two babies born, having had no issues with the tyres they were just left alone (apart from air pressure checks and the occasion rotation when convenient while doing maintenance/servicing the vehicle).
Until now, at 317,000km I’ve just replaced them. They still have 3mm of tread depth. TireRack state 11.9mm original tread depth.
Being 3512 production date they were overdue for replacement on time.
But with that sort of wear rate I didn’t bother considering anything else but a set of KO2’s. The new side walls look way cooler (tougher) on the vehicle but the actual tread pattern looks to be identical. We’ll see how these go…
What did you have to do to fit the 285's on
Cheers
