Love it…….
Needed an aux battery for the disco in a hurry during the school hols and just happened to have a handful of calb-100's lying around.
Needed some kind of battery box to carry them in, so found an old split jerry can on the junk pile that fitted the bill perfectly when cut down. Added some scrap packing from the battery packaging to pad and protect...

Made a lid out out of some scrap plywood and screwed a free 200A BMS I scored as the cherry on top. Added a handle made from a piece of scrap conduit and rope offcuts to make carrying easier...

Took it camping with a solar blanket and we could have kept running the fridge and charging the toys forever.

Still need to add a, umm, fuse and should probably drill a drain hole or two in the bottom of the container but now it's done, I think I'll keep it. Might even knock up a second one so I can switch batteries for charging. Provides the same power as around 50 to 60kg of lead acids in about 12 or so kg.
Love it…….
Love it. Ugly but beautiful at the same time![]()
What more do you need? Good job!

Have those cells been balanced and do you have the necessary protection for them to prevent a thermal runnaway?
If not, please don't camp next to me.
Dave.
I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

I don't know enough about lithium batteries to comment on the thermal overload thing, I assume that the BMS would take care of that problem.

They were in parallel for 18 months, so definitely balanced. LFP batteries are unlikely to experience thermal runaway and if they do, nothing is going to protect them. I do need a mega fuse between the BMS and bank as a precaution, but I'll bet no drop in replacement uses them as an LFP cell is quite capable of using it's link strap as a fuse if dead shorted (don't ask me how I know!).
The BMS is 200 amp rated because the original use was to start a boat's diesel engine. The batteries themselves can handle at least 300 A continuously so, yes, this is technically correct. The power cables are what really need protecting if the SHTF. Ideally one should fuse between each series connection.
