Hi all, have recently purchased my first Land Rover a couple of weeks ago and i love it. Its a 03' Disco TD5 S Auto 7 seater. Very comfortable and i feel like a King surveying the plebs when driving. They have a great driving position. Not sure if anyone else feels this way.....Anyway when i was taking the rugrats into Brisvegas last week, there was a train beside the highway so i stopped so they could have a squizz as it went past. I had to bury the right foot to get up to speed again and now i seem to have a small vibration coming through the floor and seat when you get up to around 97 km/h onwards. I haven't hit any big potholes or curbs, so i don't think its a wheel vibration. Its not much, but i don't want something go on me later because i didn't get onto it straight away. Before i ring a Land Rover mechanic i thought i would put the question out there if anyone else has had this problem or what should i do to try and elimanate sources, ie tyres, diff etc. One thought i had was maybe there was something had gone slightly out of balance after i had given it a good hammer getting up to a 100 k's. I haven't had a Turbo vehicle before so i don't know much about them. Vehicle has done approx 108,000 k's.
Any thoughts or advice ??

i would start by getting the tyres re-balanced.....
the vibration was probably there all along...maybe you just didnt sit on that speed long enough to notice it.....
i dont think you would have done any damage just by taking off a bit quicker than normal.....
ps.....when you get a balance...ask them if they could take the time to balance your tyres to zero....
most places balance down to 5 grams....meaning if it is still 5 grams out they wont worry about it....
which on a large wheel with a bit of speed is just not good enough....
Pump grease into the drive shaft splines on both of the prop shafts. You can get this if they are a bit dry.

That was the only reason i noticed it straight away a couple of days later. Mind you the missus had driven it for an hour or two the day before i noticed the vibration.....I will look into the tyres and drive shaft to start off with.
Not to likely but the output shaft bolt on my transfer cas was comming loose. It started like you described but I didn't notice till it got to a loud and heavy vibration. Once I fixed it my brain realised that it had been slowly increasing over the last couple of months.

Inc It took a friend who hadn't been in it for a few weeks to point out that it had gotten a lot noisier and that you could feel the vibration in the floor. Made me feel quite silly for not noticing.Originally Posted by incisor
Found this problem when I removed the g/box from the County. The nyloc nuts on both output shafts on the t/case were loose.So any doubts I would replace them with new nylocs. Also check the bolts and nuts that connect your propshafts at both ends.
