Yes, I have one of the power probes too - one that handles low and mains voltage. I agree that one cannot have too many carefully selected tools.

In this particular case, the switch was fried so there was no simple way to chack the rest of the circuit. Ultimately though, it was my stupidity in not checking ALL the fuses that made the job so frustrating.
