Wiring a VDO Speedo to a LT230 speed sensor

I have a VDO Electronic Speedometer that I'm about to wire up to the electronic speed sender unit on the LT230 TC in my series project. The LT230 transfer case is from a 1996 v8 D1. I'm trying to work what type of sender the D1 sender is (Hall Effect or Inductive) as these are wired to the VDO speedo unit differently?

The sender unit has 2 wires, black & green. From my perusal of a D1 wiring diagram it looked like the wires were a 12v feed and a signal to the speedo. This doesn't agree with either of the options on the VDO wiring diagram (attached)??

    Any ideas on this?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

I'm pretty sure they're a hall effect sensor Chris. If you're up in Perth you might be able to get some help from Speedline Instruments in Wangara. If the VDO is programmable, it may be easier to mount a inductive sensor that picks up on the prop shaft bolts, this is what I did with my Series 3.

    Here's the "temporary" sensor mount:

These are the clocks that Speedline Instruments made up for me using Series 3 Smiths housings and screen printed faces to match the original font:

    Cheers,
