thanks, Rick, I'm about to go looking for the source of a leak in the vicinity of where the return line enters the tank and will keep your info in mind.
This came up on a recent thread.
The correct fabric braided small ID (IIRC it's listed as 3.2mm) hose can be bought off the roll from any Bosch diesel injection specialist.
I paid $15 for 1 metre of it today.

One of the loops in my Defe was leaking.
I asked Enzed, Repco, Autobarn and other part suppliers in Bundy with not much luck
I pushed my luck a bit more and ask the local LR dealer.
They asked me for the VIN number, then if was a Disco or a Defe, then after 10 minutes searching the screen they only can supply (on order)the full assembly with fittings for $180.00.What a comedians!!!
At the end on a local industrial parts supplier I managed to get a 4mm ID fuel hose for $ 4 per meter.
Bundaberg it is hopeless for anyting i it is not beer and rum![]()
I use straight fuel grade hose to replace those brittle plastic bits, had mine on for over 9 months now with no problems, cost about $1, just took a foot off a roll i'd bought to extend my rear diff breather, Regards Frank.
Good to see the search function works
And the irony is I just had to swap all the buggers out a few weeks back again.
First one went, then a couple of days later another pinhole in another, so they've all be changed.
I just kept a length in the box under the drivers seat for just in case, so did the swap out while on a job at the local Bowling Club.
I think we both know the answer there Rick. Pat
You can also get fuel line from a lawn mower shop. Its not fabric coated but but I've had it on mine for 3 years
