    300TDi timing belt mistake.

Around 4 years ago I changed the timing belt on Dave. About two years ago he failed to proceed. I parked him up and ignored him until now. This is what I found.

I was careful to torque to spec, and can only assume that the stud had already been stretched.

My mistake? Not changing the stud when I was in there. Now it's going to be a bugger to get out.

Still, if I must remove the housing I can attend to that oil leak.

Bugger. Shouldn't be too hard to sort out though. You've nearly got it apart now anyway.

I've got a DTI to set your pump timing if you want to borrow it.

Also, send your head away to get pressure tested before you buy a new one from Turner's.

Thanks Pricey. I have all the timing stuff here.

As for the head, last time I had it off I was flat broke, so I flattened it using wet and dry glued to a sheet of laminated glass, and took out maybe a 10 thou warp. Not sure I want to trust it anymore.
